Boys,
The UWMHC would like to invite all of you to the club christmas meal and party on Thursday 27th November 2008 (WEEK 9).
The plan for the evening is as follows:
6pm prompt - 3 course Christmas dinner at Xanana's on campus - food will be pre-ordered, cost is 13.95 a head to be paid on arrival, lovely traditional christmas food, christmas party hats, crackers, good company, a drink or two, and a few cheeky speeches on the year so far.
8pm - bus to Leamington
8.30pm - head to Kelseys Bar for the club party! We have invited the girls club along too so should be a great chance to meet some of them before tour. Drinks deals and queue jumps for evolve on offer, hopefully some christmas decor if the filth put the effort in!
10.30pm - head on to evolve as a club
The dress code for the event is any shirt and club tie - the shirt you wear is of your own choosing, club social shirts are not required - so challenge linford to wear the snazziest shirt going.
The menu for the food is as follows:
Starter
Winter green and stilton soup served with crusty bread.
or
grilled goats cheese on warm brioche with red onion marmalade
Main
Traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings
or
Mushroom, cranberry and brie wellington
or
Roast salmon with parsnips, rocket and a caper bearnaise
ALL Above served with potatoes and seasonal vegetables
Desserts
Mint chocolate bomb with mint ice cream and chocolate sauce
Traditional christmas pudding with rich brandy sauce
OK here is the important part so read carefully. If you want to attend the christmas meal, and in the past it has been a huge event for the club with a massive turnout so hopefully you will!, you need to email me letting me know you're coming. Just send me a message to christopher.bishop@warwick.ac.uk.
You also need to let me know what food you want as we will pre-order it to save a few hours of our lives waiting.
The food I will assume everyone wants will be the soup for starter, the roast turkey main course, and the mint chocolate bomb for dessert.
If you want anything different from these options above (for example you want the goats cheese rather than the soup) then you need to tell me that. However if the options above in bold are your prefered choice then you don't need to say anything about food in your email.
Sorry for the epic message. Hopefully the evening itself should be pretty epic, and so I urge all of you to come to celebrate christmas and what has been a fantastic term for the club.

Hey everyone,
i''d like to let all you future club members know what activites the Mens Hockey Club are going to have going on within the first few weeks. For all you Freshers, we''re going to be at the Sports Fair from 11am-6pm on Tuesday 30th September, at the Sports Centre. Please feel free to come along to meet our exec, have a chat with us and sign up to the club at the event (it can also be done online, from the Warwick Sport website). The following day, we''ve got trials between 1 and 4:30pm at the Westwood pitches, followed by our first social of the year from 6pm at the TES (the ''Tent'').
Following this, we''ll have training, again at the Westwood pitches, from 5:30-7:30pm on Friday 3rd October, before the first league games of the year the day after. On Monday week 2 we have training at Westwood between 5-6:30pm, before our club day on Wednesday.
This club day will involve all five teams playing against the University of Sheffield in the afternoon, during which we''ll have a barbeque going, have music blaring out, so it''s going to be an awesome afternoon! Following this, we''ll have our usual Wednesday social in the evening.
With training again on the Friday at the same times, we''ll be having our first Saturday social of the year from 6:30pm after our games. We''ll be socialing again in the TES, before the first Skool Dayz of the year.
So as you can see we''ve got loads going on in the first two weeks, and it won''t slow down throughout the year! So come see us on Tuesday and sign up to the most active club on campus!
Hello freshers, welcome to the UWMHC.
Mens hockey is a thriving club both on and off of the pitch. We have 5 teams entering into BUSA and MRHA leagues, catering for all levels of ability. Last year we were very successful and hope to emulate this in 2008-9. We train twice a week, and are lucky enough to have 2 top quality coaches working with us in the coming year.
We also have a very active social side to the club, with weekly circles before sports night on Wednesdays and union events on Saturdays. We also run 2 tours each year. Our domestic tours take place with ladies hockey and are always lively, whilst our foreign tour sees us jet off for a sports party with a host of other universities. On top of this there are away days, social events such as the annual UWMHC go-karting championship, and valuable community and charity work.
Hopefully this sounds like something you''d like to be a part of! We will be at the sports fair on Tuesday 30th September so why not come and see us to get more info about trials and training!
If you can''t wait till then and have any questions you can email me at christopher.bishop@warwick.ac.uk.
Good luck in results and we look forward to meeting you all in September.

Boys,
The Sports Ball 2008 promises to round off another fantastic year for the hockey club. It offers the opportunity to spend one final evening with everyone before summer and, for some, the end of uni.
Buy your tickets now - they''re nearly sold out! It may seem expensive but it was the best night of last year by a distance - drinks on the piazza for several hours beforehand, then a tasty three course meal including plenty of wine, followed by music and dancefloor action til late surrounded by every other sports club at warwick. Immense. So don''t be the joker who misses out.
Cheers, Bish
Boys,
Next to the Hockey Ball the AGM is the biggest and most important club event. Turn-up is compulsory to each club member. Check emails and forum for information on each position and ask me any questions you like. Time for AGM is not confirmed yet but it will take place around week 8.

Monday week 9 is the date we have decided on for the christmas meal this year and it will be held after training as usual (exact time TBC but around 8 - 8.30). We have decided to go back to Xananas (Dont eat the mussles!) as it is so easy to get to and one of the few places with a decent enough capacity. Make sure everyone signs up for this, its a really good night, nice christmas dinner, captains reports and a few other exec speeches and a good chance to celebrate our teams achievements so far. Its also a great chance for everyone to get involved socially in the club especially for those people that arent a fan of wednesday circles. QEveryone in the club always turns out for this boys and its always a laugh, especially with the option of a cheeky top-b afterwards for those who are up for it. Get your names down on the forum (or if you still dont have access drop me an email D.J.Stewart@warwick.ac.uk) so we can get an idea of numbers so we can book the place. Hugs and Christmas Kisses Twiggy
On Sunday 27th January we are again going to have a club trip to the National Indoor Finals at the NIA in Birmingham. Not only is a fantastic day out and a great chance to meet people outside your team (especially if you haven''t been to many circles), tickets are only £10 for students! Played on a smaller pitch with no hits and lots of drag flicks, top-flight indoor hockey is incredibly fast-paced and brilliant to watch. Last year Canterbury beat East Grinstead 7-6 in a very close final, successfully defending 3 shorties in the last minute. We''ll be there for both the mens and ladies semis and finals (running from about 1pm until 8pm). Getting to the NIA is easy as can be as Birmingham New Street is only a short train ride from Leamington or Canley (train station nearest campus). More details will be sent nearer the time. A sign up sheet is up in Union North now, so please get your name down, and a cheque for £10 (payable as usual to "UWSU" with your name, uni number and "Mens Hockey resale" on the back) by 16th November (Friday week 7) by the latest, so UWMHC can all get seats together. Tickets will sell out quickly, so get signed up ASAP! Regards, Eve
A few people have spoken to me about not being able to get onto the forum. The reason for this is the new web address. Can everyone now use the web address: http://uwmhc.uwss.net/forum/ Can all freshers please register from this site as opposed to uwmhc.co.uk!! Any queries then give me a shout. Fred x
